Everyday use

They sure are. They’re built for real life – errands, coffee dates, adventures abroad, and the ‘let’s just get some fresh air’ moments. Perfect for anyone who wants freedom without the bulk of a road scooter (although we do one of those too, just in case).
Absolutely. They’re ideal for errands, days out, short journeys, long getaways – basically anything that starts with “Let’s pop to…”
Yes – that’s what they’re made for. Glide’s supportive seating and smooth suspension means you can sit comfortably for longer periods without feeling stiff, strained or rattled around.
Definitely. They’re ideal for errands, days out, shopping trips and city wanders – perfect for anyone who wants everyday independence without a heavy road scooter (although we have one of those too).
Size

Glide folds into a compact, manageable shape that fits into most standard car boots. No need for a van or hoist.
They do indeed. Every Humfree lightweight model slips into most car boots with ease, thanks to clever folding and modular designs. The carbon even fits into most front footwells. Talk about compact.
Yes – that’s exactly what they’re built for. All Humfree boot scooters are designed to fold or dismantle into compact pieces that slip neatly into even modest-sized car boots.
Yes. All Humfree folding scooters are designed to fit comfortably into most standard car boots. Some even tuck into the front footwell. Small car? No problem.
Yes – most of our models are designed with portability in mind. Many Humfree scooters feature a lightweight, foldable design or can be easily dismantled into a few manageable parts without the need for tools.
While they fit comfortably in the majority of standard car boots, we always recommend checking the folded dimensions listed on the specific product page against your vehicle’s space to ensure a perfect fit.
Absolutely. Every Humfree travel scooter is designed with boots in mind, whether it’s a quick flat-fold, a suitcase-style design, or a model that breaks into lighter pieces for easier lifting.
All Humfree models are designed with everyday spaces in mind. Widths and turning circles are listed on each product page, and during your home appointment we’ll make sure your chosen scooter works with your hallway, doors and storage space.
Weight

Absolutely not. Our folding scooters are among the lightest in the UK, with models like the Lite and Carbon keeping things incredibly breezy. But if you did want an even lighter lift, the Humfree Five breaks apart into (you guessed it) five extra-easy-to-lift parts.
They’re sturdier, yes – which means they can go further and accommodate more weight. If you’re after something lighter, our lightweight and folding scooters offer easy-fold designs make loading and storing easy as
It varies by model, but scooters like the Carbon, Lite and Connect were built with portability in mind. The Connect offers the lightest lift, with the heaviest part weighing just 11.2kg.
Depends on the model, but the Humfree Connect takes the crown. The heaviest part is just 11.2kg, making it one of the easiest scooters in the UK to lift into the boot.
Most people don’t. Because the pieces are so light, they’re easy to manage without extra equipment, or even a helping pair of hands. The Connect™ splits into two, with the heaviest part weighing just 11.2kg – while the Carbon is just 13kg all in. But if you’d prefer a hoist, we can point you in the right direction.
Travel

Yes – most Humfree scooters are perfect travel companions. Many of our models are equipped with airline-friendly lithium batteries and a compact folding frame, making them ideal for both flights and cruise ship cabins.
Because requirements can vary between providers, we always recommend notifying your airline or cruise line in advance. We can provide a Battery Safety Certificate for your specific model to make your check-in process as smooth as possible.
Absolutely. Lightweight frames and compact folds make them perfect for trains, cruises, taxis and hotel rooms. With airline-friendly lithium batteries, most models can fly too.
Absolutely. All our lightweight scooters (except the Urban) are holiday-ready – built to meet airline, cruise and rail rules. You’ll just need to carry the lithium battery according to the airline’s guidelines, but don’t worry – ours fit neatly into what most carriers allow.
Airlines usually just need to confirm the lithium battery size – and ours fall within the approved limits for most major carriers. Just let them know you’re travelling with a mobility scooter and carry the battery in your hand luggage as requested.
Out and about

Yes. Many of our scooters are designed specifically for easy transport, with folding frames, split parts or lightweight pieces that fit neatly into car boots, taxis and trains. Models with removable lithium batteries are also suitable for air travel, subject to airline approval.
Yes – Class 3 scooters drop to 4mph for pavement use.
Easily. Our travel scooters are compact enough for standard bus spaces and slim enough to navigate train aisles. Fold or dismantle as needed, hop on and enjoy the view.
Performance

It depends on the model and how you use it, but most Humfree scooters cover between 9 and 22 miles on a full charge. Hills, weight and temperature can all affect range, but we’ll help you choose something that comfortably suits your routine.
It depends on the model, but generally, they are limited to 4mph or 8mph.
Most Humfree scooters are Class 2 models, which have a top speed of 4mph for safe use on pavements. If you opt for a Class 3 model, these can reach 8mph and are legal for road use, provided they are fitted with the necessary lights and indicators.
Most batteries take around 4-6 hours to fully charge from empty. You can top up whenever you like, and it’s perfectly fine to charge overnight.
Folding and carrying

Very. Depending on the model, you’ll have either two-step manual folding or models that you take apart. Dismantling versions break into light, manageable pieces designed for stress-free travel.
Very. Our folding models collapse in two simple motions (three if you include taking out the battery for easy carrying). No wrestling or yoga-level flexibility required.
When you’re done scooting, just fold it and forget it. The only time you’ll ever need to remove the battery is if you want a lighter lift, or you’re hopping on a plane in line with the airline’s rules on lithium batteries (but don’t worry – it’s lightweight, easy to remove, and compliant with most carriers).
Scooter safety and regulations

Yes – Class 3 scooters drop to 4mph for pavement use.
Nope – no licence required. Class 3 scooters must be registered with the DVLA and display a ‘nil tax’ disc, but you won’t need a licence or insurance (though optional insurance is always recommended).
No. All Humfree scooters are designed to meet UK mobility regulations. Pavement models can be used without a licence. Our road-legal Urban model needs to be registered with the DVLA. Don’t worry – it’s easy, free – and one of our team can help during the setup.
No – you don’t need a licence. Most Humfree scooters are Class 2 (pavement) models, which you can use freely on footpaths, pedestrianised areas and in shopping centres.
Only Class 3 powerchairs require road registration. Good news: Glide is a Class 2 model, so you’re free to use it on pavements, shops and other indoor spaces.
A road-legal Class 3 scooter must have a maximum speed of 8mph, plus lights, indicators, a horn, mirrors and a clear display. It must also be able to switch down to 4mph on pavements. The Urban has all of the above.
